What does divergence mean?
The divergence specifies the expansion (widening) of a laser beam. As a unit of measure mrad (abbreviated for Millirad, known also as milliradians) is used. If the diameter of a laser beam increases for example to 1 mm per 1 m beam path, so the divergence is 1 mrad. According to quality, assembly and wavelength of the laser the divergence can vary. As a general rule: the smaller the mrad (the smaller the divergence) the brighter the laser beam for a long distance.
